General Sales Manager — Live Commerce (TikTok & Whatnot)

As General Sales Manager, you’ll own scheduling, product flow, production coordination, and team performance across TikTok and Whatnot. What you’ll lead
- People & Performance
- Recruit, onboard, schedule, and coach a team of live hosts and support staff.
- Set clear goals, KPI dashboards, and review cadences; deliver regular 1:1s and performance plans.
- Create playbooks, training libraries, and SOPs that raise the bar on every show.
- Live Show Operations
- Own end‑to‑end production flow: run‑of‑show, product sequencing, pricing/promo strategy, and post‑show recap.
- Ensure coverage and continuity with dynamic scheduling across weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
- Partner with production to maintain quality standards (audio, video, lighting), moderation, and platform compliance.
- Merchandising & Inventory
- Align with sourcing/warehouse on product pipeline, availability, and sell‑through targets.
- Curate show lineups to maximize AOV, conversion, and repeat viewership.
- Revenue & Growth
- Build and execute a weekly and monthly sales plan tied to quotas and GMV goals.
- Optimize funnel metrics (CTR, watch time, chat engagement, conversion, return rate) via A/B tests on hooks, thumbnails, scripts, and offers.
- Develop promotions, drops, and event programming that grow viewership and sales.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Coordinate with Marketing (traffic, promos), Operations (fulfillment SLAs), Finance (forecasting), and CX (post‑purchase).
- Represent the live commerce function in leadership meetings; surface insights and influence roadmaps.
- Forecasting, Reporting & Controls
- Produce accurate forecasts and pipeline views; manage month‑end close for live commerce revenue.
- Maintain process controls for pricing, discounts, and creator incentives.
Objectives of this role
- Represent the brand with deep knowledge of our products and audience.
- Hire, train, motivate, and—when necessary—upgrade the team to maintain high standards.
- Hit company targets by planning thoroughly, setting goals, analyzing performance data, and forecasting.
- Continuously improve sales tactics and production processes to meet and exceed revenue objectives.
- Generate partnerships and nurture relationships that expand our live audience and customer base.
Key responsibilities (you’ll do many/all of these)
- Create and execute a strategic sales plan that expands our customer base and extends reach on TikTok/Whatnot.
- Meet with partners and high‑value customers; develop long‑lasting relationships that address their needs.
- Recruit, set objectives, train and coach hosts and sales support; monitor performance with daily stand‑ups.
- Identify knowledge or capability gaps and implement targeted training to close them.
- Hold daily/weekly check‑ins to set objectives, review KPIs, and remove blockers.
- Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes for live commerce.
- Collaborate on content calendars, event programming, and tentpole moments.
- Ensure smooth handoffs to Ops and CX for accurate fulfillment and world‑class service.
Core KPIs: GMV, conversion rate, average concurrent viewers, watch time, AOV, sell‑through, return customer rate, show margin.
Required skills & qualifications
- 3+ years managing sales or revenue‑generating teams in a corporate or high‑growth setting.
- Proven track record across the full sales cycle: planning → execution → closing → retention.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and motivational coaching skills.
- Highly organized; comfortable building SOPs and scalable processes.
- Data‑driven operator with strong command of forecasting and performance analysis (e.g., Sheets/Excel, CRM).
- Willingness to monitor streams during off hours and weekends to ensure coverage and quality.
- Integrity, bias for action, and the ability to make clear decisions under pressure.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience leading social commerce, eCommerce, retail, or live streaming teams (TikTok/Whatnot a plus).
- Motivational speaking, on‑camera presence, or sales training experience.
- Consistent success above quota and experience scaling a team from early to growth stage.
- Familiarity with live production workflows and tools (e.g., OBS/StreamYard), and CRM/reporting platforms.
